So, as most of you have probably heard or seen, today is July 7th, 2020 also known as the very first Black Out Day 2020.
Today, (if you are taking part in the movement to help further Black owned businesses) than you are NOT spending any money today… UNLESS it is with a BLACK owned business. That’s right. You can’t buy anything today unless it is #BlackOwned.
You know what the best part about that is?! You get to educate yourself about all of the incredible and sadly overlooked, Black owned brands that are in the marketplace now… just waiting to be discovered, or given the true credit it deserves. SO, of course I have your back and I have compiled a list of Black owned/Minority owned businesses that I would encourage you to shop not only today, but even days after Black Out Day has passed.
Today,I am buying (I have been a good little girl and saved some bday money especially for this day) only from Black owned businesses. I will be posting receipts and I encourage you to do the same. Not to brag about amounts spent or what was bought, but to encourage one another to do the same. Each dollar spent DOES count. Our dollars matter! Thank you <3

There are viral Instagram brands, and then there’s Beauty Bakerie. After Instagram went crazy for the brand’s infamous Lip Whip— which literally does not budge as shown in viral videos—Beauty Bakerie took off. In 2011, Cashmere Nicole followed her dream of creating a makeup company, despite battling breast cancer and being a single mom. From the ice cream palette packaging to the dessert-themed names, Beauty Bakerie offers whimsical makeup with an even sweeter color pay-off. BUY HERE
3.Black Girl Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a must for all skin tones, and Shontay Lundy’s SPF is made specifically for black skin. For starters, Black Girl Sunscreen goes on completely sheer, meaning there won’t be a white cast left on the skin. And thanks to a natural cocktail of hydrating ingredients like avocado, sunflower oil, and jojoba, skin is left super hydrated. For an added bonus, the formula uses carrot juice (high in vitamin C) to boost the level of melanin in the skin and calm acne breakouts. BUY HERE
KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson, the founders of clean beauty brand Mented Cosmetics, understand that one nude shade does not fit all. The two friends started their company by finding trying to redefine nude lipstick and help all women of color find their perfect shade. Since then, Miller and Johnson have expanded Mented Cosmetics to eye, brow, face, and even more lip products. While nude is Mented’s specialty, every single one of their lipsticks is equally pigmented. BUY HERE
