The 90’s were like undoubtedly the best years ever. Television, movies, music and TOYS! It makes me so sad to see what kids are growing up watching and playing with nowadays. They will never know the awesomeness that was: Spice Girls, N’SYNC, All That, Good Burger, Are You Afraid of The Dark, Doug, R.L. Stine books, Beanie Babies, Troll Dolls, Tamagotchis and so on. Now, they are subjected to auto tuned music *gag*, tv shows that have laugh tracks that don’t even sound amused and social media sites. There seriously is no hope for this generation -_-
Get ready to take a stroll down memory lane and get nostalgic af…
1. Super Nintendo
Almost nothing made me happier than hearing the little bleeps and bloops and cute background music as Mario fought his way to save his beloved Princess Peach.
2.Sticky Hands
I actually came across one of these at work not too long ago and just like a kid gone crazy with one of these, my boss put me on time out…
3. Gak
Another gooey, sticky favorite. I also loved making home made Gak with my mom. How much she liked it…..well, that’s left up for discussion.
4. Etch-A-Sketch
I felt like Picasso with that little thing…
5. Beanie Babies
These legit were my all time FAVORITE! I remember saving up all my allowance *the massive lump sum I got every week* and running to the toy store to buy at least two of these little guys every week. I wish I still had them, what some of these are worth now?!…I would definitely get my fair return.
6. Skip It
Not only was this a super fun toy, but a really great workout! Skip It needs to make a return and fast, because some of these kidssss….. *well, I’ll move on*
7. Easy Bake
I don’t care if you are a guy or girl, you LOVED this shit! You loved the ability to bake your own REAL LIFE snacks without needing Mommy’s help! This thing totally made you feel like an adult…
8. Little Disc Things
You know, I’m not going to lie… I don’t even remember the name of these things or what their real purpose was. I just remember collecting a bunch of them and bringing them along with me to play dates LOL. Which still makes them way more awesome than what kids play with now…
9. Tamagotchis
Tam- a- freakin- gotchis… this little thing was LIFE itself. I personally owned at least 20 throughout my childhood. Any and every body had one of these growing up in the 90’s. There was just something so magical about having a “pet” that you got to feed, bathe and scoop it’s poop. If only we could get that excited about our chores 😉
10. Gameboy
You were one of the realest of the real if you had one of these babies.
11. Puppy Surprise
Mmm, let’s just say I found myself searching for this on eBay not too long ago *blush face emoji*
12. Super Soaker
This was the ultimate Summer must- have. This was before kids became crazy and couldn’t handle playing with a “toy” gun. :-\
13. The Walkman
There was something seriously badass about having one of these. Listening to all your rated-PG cd’s 😉
14. Slip N’ Slide
Another Summer favorite. Not so much for my dad, my dad loved his perfectly green grass 🙂
15. The Clarissa Explains It All Phone
Ok, so this wasn’t the official name, but “Clarissa Explains It All” totally made this phone everything!!!
16. Lite Brite
These were amazing for so many reasons. I just remember my wall being completely decorated with the glow in the dark ones :-p
17. Nerf Footballs
I loved throwing this around just to hear that whistling sound…
18. Doctors Kit
Everyone was a board certified doctor with this little kit. I personally treated so many cases of the flu, chicken pox, malaria, broken ankle and dislocated shoulder…I truly was an amazing child 🙂
19. 3D View Master
Before 3d movies, before virtual reality, before well..anything, there was this amazing device. You got to see your favorite characters in 3d, how freaking cool was that back then?!
20. POWER WHEELSSSSS
Ok, so I know I said the Walkman was badass… but nothing made you cooler than having one of these. This literally gave you status on the block. You could not tell me ANYTHING while I was riding around in my hot pink Barbie Power Wheels convertible WITH the built in car phone. Owwwww 😉
21. Anything Lisa Frank
ANYTHING…
22. Pokémon Cards
Trading these things was as serious as trading stocks…
23. Nintendo 64
This is actually what my brother looked like in real life when he opened his Nintendo 64 on Christmas many, many moons ago. To this day, my favorite game was/is Mario Kart 64. LOVE
24. Cupcake Dolls
One of the world’s greatest unsolved mysteries. How did this thing smell so damn good and KEPT it’s amazing smell forever.
25. Furbie
Lastly, Furbies. Personally, I was not allowed to own one of these because my Mom thought they were demon possessed. Honestly, I didn’t mind… these freaking things scared the shit out of me anyway.
So the 90’s was an amazing era. Does anyone else feel super old?! God, I would give just about anything to go back to that time. Currently experiencing major Peter Pan syndrome right now. Don’t mind me while I go searching for Tinkerbell and my magic pixie dust… Hope you enjoyed the stroll down memory lane 🙂
